A solar lamp, often referred to as a solar light or solar lantern, is a lighting system made up of an LED 
lamp, solar panels, a battery, a charge controller, and maybe an inverter as well.

Candles and kerosene lamps can be replaced with solar-powered illumination in homes. Because 
renewable solar energy is free, unlike gasoline, solar lights are less expensive to run than kerosene 
lamps.  
 
In addition, unlike kerosene lights, solar lamps don't pollute the air indoors. Solar lights are weather-
dependent and typically more expensive up front.

many can remain lighted for more than one night.  
Older versions had bulbs that weren't LED or fluorescent. In order to better withstand the winds, solar 
lights placed in windy areas typically have flat panels. 
 
 
For battery management in contemporary designs, wireless technologies and fuzzy control theory are 
used. With this technology, each street light can turn on and off the network as a whole, allowing the 
street lights to function as a network.
