India is Facing severe air quality concerns. Many cities and towns are facing 
very poor air quality index which is resulting in poor health of citizens.
• Besides pollution from vehicles, biomass, crop 
residue burning and fuel wood are also major 
reasons for rapidly increasing pollution.
• Today many cities in India have suspended 
particulate matter beyond acceptable levels.
• India has been third largest emitter of carbon 
dioxide (CO2) in the world.
