• Joseph Plateau is known for creating the illusion 
of moving images with a device called 
Phenakistiscope.
• He hailed from Brussels and was born on 14th 
Oct 1801.
• His father was an artist very famous for his 
spectacular flower paintings. 
• He was graduated in law, but he then shifts his 
interest in science.
• At a very young age, he became some of the well-
know Belgian scientists/inventors. (19th century).
• He researched and studied how light and colors 
effects on human eye retina.
