NIAGARA FALLS
•Niagara Falls is a group of three waterfalls.
•It situated at the southern end of Niagara Gorge that
is in between the US state of New York, and the
Canadian province of Ontario.
•The Best view is seen on the Canadian side.
•The largest Horseshoe Falls creates
the natural border between the USA
and Canada.
•It is also known as Canadian Falls.
•Waterfalls that lie entirely within
the United States are known as
smaller American Falls and Bridal
Veil Falls.
•This Bridal Veil Falls are separated from both
Horseshoe Falls and American Falls by Goat Island and
Luna Island respectively.
•The most powerful waterfall in North America is
Horseshoe Falls according to flow rate measures.
At the end of the last Ice age
when glaciers receded during
this period the formation of
Niagara Falls took place.
Because of the glaciers recede
great lakes were formed and
water carved a path to the
Atlantic Ocean through the
Niagara Escarpment.
Niagara Falls is famous for its beauty as well
as a valuable source of hydroelectric power.

Niagara fall is a valuable source
of hydroelectric power.
This potential is recognized first
time by Daniel Joncaire. He built a
small canal above the falls to
power his sawmill in 1759.
American Falls was purchased by
Augustus and Peter in 1805 from
the New York state government.

Niagara fall is well-known
for waterways.
Welland Canal is useful as
ships can bypass Niagara
Falls trough this Canal.
The region has declined
economically since 1970.
