Hello, friends welcome to the world of “the hacker newz” in today’s article we
are going to throw light on the attack in which the claim is made by the
attacker for the cyber-attack which was made on the famous racing association
thus popular with the name: NEW YORK RACING ASSOCIATION. The
responsibility of the attack made on the New York Racing Association (NYRA)
was taken by the Hive for running up a ransomware operation whose
disclosure was made previously of a cyber-attack whose occurrence took place
on June 30, 2022, thus making impacted IT operations along with the
availability of the website and thus making the compromisation of the member
data.
About Nyra the Victim Of The Biggest Ransom ware
Attack Made By Hive
NYRA one of the largest operators among the three largest thoroughbred
horse racing tracks in New York, which are having the name as follows :
1. Aqueduct Racetrack
2. The Belmont Park
3. The Saratoga Race Course.
The notifications about the breach in the security were sent later in the last
month thus making it shared with the authorities in the last security thus
indicating that the infiltration might have been performed by the threat actors
the notification was made to be sent by the threat actor for making an impact
on individuals lately in the last month thus making the sharing with the
authorities last week, the infiltration of the following information might have
the ex-filtration of the following member information:
Social security numbers (SSNs)

Health records
Information related to health insurance.
Details Included in the Data Breach Made on Nyra in the
Ransom ware Attack
The notifications made for a data breach was having the inclusion of details on
how to make an enrolment for a 24-month long identity protection service
through Experian, the cost for which is going to be covered by NYRA.
Additionally, the recipient of the letter recipients should take into
consideration thus making the credit freeze be placed placing or making the
credit reports thus being ordered, and making them be reviewed carefully.
On making a reach out to NYRA for a more detailed description of the incident,
more of the response has not been received yet.
Thus on making careful observation, it seems to be the case, that none of the
impacts has been faced by the NYRA horse racing community from the incident
on the horse racing because none of the changes have been seen in the
calendar, and along with the betting of race is in continuation as usual.
However, the website of association website is still out of reach which is thus
making the message sent to the mind that the effects of the attack are not
being able to be mitigated now.
Responsibility for The Attack Is Taken By The Hive
Ransom ware Gang
Yesterday, the responsibility for making the ransom ware attack was taken by
the Hive ransom ware gang for the attack made on NYRA by making
themselves listed as a victim on their extortion site.
The publishing of the link has been made by the hackers for the free
downloading of a ZIP with the archives of all the files contained whose stealing
was allegedly made from the system of NYRA, so it can only be assumed by us
that negotiations for a ransom payment are making the reach to a dead end.
Hive is thus one of the highest tier ransom ware gangs which is currently
among the most active ones, thus making a recent hit on Bell Canada and the
Da-mart clothing store chain while announcing several more victims who have
not been given the public admittance of a security incident.
On 21st September the following comment is being shared by NYRA who is an
active spokesperson: On June 30, 2022, the discovery of the suspicious
network activity was made by NYRA that was having the markings of a
potential cyber-attack. In response, the connectivity of all affected systems
was suspended by NYRA with immediate effect along with the notification
being sent to the relevant law enforcement and regulatory authorities, thus
making the cyber-security professionals mobilized for the intense investigation
of the nature and scope of the attack.
Over the ensuing weeks, a detailed forensic analysis of the network and
systems is being performed over the NYRA and its team of expert systems the
determination the extent of the breach made.
Fortunately, the damage made to the network of NYRA was not having any
kind of connection to the day-to-day racing operations, along with the
wagering activity of customers, NYRA Bets, or NYRA television. As a result,
there was none of the interruption made to the core operations of NYRA.
Currently, there is none of the evidence being found thus suggesting the data
that is quite sensitive to the customer or the compromise of the information
was made during the process of the data breach. However, the discovery was
made by the NYRA that those who were responsible for the attack were thus
able to gain access to files which are having the personally identifiable
information of a group of NYRA employees and their beneficiaries contained in
it.
The notification has been made by the NYRA to all the individuals who may
have been going to be impacted as having the requirement of them being
applicable under the state laws.
