Former Associate Dean of Students at Bard College
Timand Bates is an accomplished educator and administrator with extensive
experience in teaching, program management, and leadership. He received
his M.A. in Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University,
and a B.A. in Languages and Literature from Bard College.
In his current role as Program Manager for the Open Society University
Network (OSUN), Timand Bates has managed an $850k grant to deliver
online liberal arts courses to 45 institutions globally, significantly increasing
student enrollment and faculty participation.
His tenure at Bard College included roles as Associate Dean of Students and
Assistant Dean of Students, where he focused on student success, diversity
initiatives, and crisis response.
Timand Bates's teaching career includes positions at the Bard Prison Initiative
and the American University of Central Asia, where he developed and taught
courses for diverse learner populations.
Timand Bates has authored several publications and presented at various
