Aizawl: Mizoram sports minister, Robert Romawia Royte, awarded Rs. 2.5 lakh and mementoes to 17 parents boasting of having the maximum number of children in his constituency of Aizawl East-II on Tuesday in an attempt to stimulate a “baby boom”. Minister Royte, also proposed a financial reward of Rs 1 lakh to living parents with the maximum number of children in his constituency on Father’s Day in June to encourage population increase among the demographically small Mizo populations.

boasting of having the maximum number of children in his constituency of Aizawl East-II on Tuesday in an attempt
to stimulate a “baby boom”.
Minister Royte, also proposed a financial reward of Rs 1 lakh to living parents with the maximum number of
children in his constituency on Father’s Day in June to encourage population increase among the demographically
small Mizo populations.
Ngurauvi, a widow from Tuithiang locality who borne 15 children including seven sons received the ‘first prize,’
which included a financial incentive of Rs. 1 lakh and a citation from the Minister.
Lianthangi, a widow with 13 children from Chhinga Veng, won the second place, which included a cash prize of Rs.
30,000 and a citation.
