West Vancouver police say the 29-year-old was swimming 
across the alpine lake with his fiancée around 6:30 p.m. on June 
15 when he began to struggle in open water. “There were 
several independent witnesses who saw the young man in 
distress and observed his companion attempting to assist him,” 
Sgt. Chris Bigland said. “Unfortunately, he slipped beneath the 
surface of the water and has not been seen since.”
