Two users can enter the same credentials into the same application, yet the security risk can be completely different. A login at 9:15 AM from a managed corporate device may look routine. The same credentials used at 2:47 AM from an unfamiliar device, a different city, and an unusual network should raise questions. This is the idea behind context-aware authentication. Instead of treating every login as an identical event, it evaluates the circumstances surrounding the access attempt and adjusts the level of trust accordingly.
