What Is A Surgical Wound? A surgical wound is a type of cut or incision made in the skin by using a scalpel. It usually takes place when a surgery is performed on the patient or can also occur due to a drain placement. It can vary in size depending on the type of surgery the patient has undergone. Usually, these surgical wounds are closed with sutures but in some cases, the doctors left them open to heal.
