When Twitter permanently banned Trump from the platform in
January 2021 during the final days of his term, his handle
@realDonaldTrump had over 88.9 million followers.

Death of Larry King
Larry King was an American television and radio host, whose
awards included two Peabodys, an Emmy and ten Cable ACE
Awards. The veteran TV host died on 23 January at the age of
87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

A very powerful earthquake, measuring 7.3 on the Richter
scale, rocked the Flores Sea in southern Indonesia, prompting

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been elected as general
secretary of the ruling workers’ party.

Death of Leon Spinks (Heavyweight Boxing champion)
Leon Spinks, who scored one of boxing's greatest upsets when
he defeated Muhammad Ali to capture the heavyweight
championship in February 1978, but lost his crown in a rematch
seven months later and never again found glory in the ring,
died on Friday night in Henderson, Nev. He was 67.

Jeff Bezos announces he is stepping down as CEO of
Amazon
World's richest man and the founder of Amazon.com, Jeff
Bezos has stepped down from the position of CEO, after 27
years of steering the company. Bezos will now take over as
Amazon’s executive chairman and continue to be its biggest
shareholder.

An African woman leads the World Trade Organization
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria secured the support of the
United States for Director-General of the WTO. Okonjo-Iweala
assumed office on 1 March 2021, and became both the first
woman and the first African to hold this position.

Once in a hundred year flood in Australia since 1961
Days of heavy rain pounded the Australian province of New
South Wales (NSW) at the end of March 2021, leading to a
once-in-a-hundred-year-flood with water amounts unseen
since 1961.

Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II of the United
Kingdom, died on 9 April,2021. He was 99.

Raul Castro is set to step down as the head of the Communist
Party of Cuba. · This will mark an end to over 60 years of Castro
rule over Cuba.

The President of Chad, Idriss Déby, was killed after 30
years in office
Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno, who ruled the central
African nation for more than three decades, died Tuesday of
wounds suffered on the battlefield during a fight against rebels,
the military announced on national television and radio.

administered worldwide exceeds 1 billion
The world has reached the milestone of administering one
billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines, just four months after the
World Health Organization (WHO) approved the first vaccine

The June 10 solar eclipse is an annular one. In an annular
eclipse, the Sun is not entirely covered and a thin boundary of
it is visible, which is called the ‘ring of fire.’

Jean-Paul Charles Belmondo was a French actor, initially
associated with the New Wave of the 1960s and a major

The World Health Organization has recommended the
widespread rollout of the first malaria vaccine, in a move
experts hope could save tens of thousands of children’s lives
each year across Africa.

to explore the Trojan asteroids
The US space agency NASA has launched a first-of-its-kind
mission called 'Lucy Mission' to study Jupiter's Trojan asteroids.
The mission life of Lucy is 12-year, during which the spacecraft
will fly by a total of eight ancient asteroids to study about solar
system's evolution.

private battle
Virgil Abloh, the American-born son of Ghanaian immigrants
who became fashion's highest profile Black designer and the
creative mind behind Louis Vuitton's menswear collections,
died on Sunday at age 41, following a two-year battle with a
rare form of cancer.

First confirmed case of omicron detected
On November 26, 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO)
classified a new variant, B.1.1.529, as a Variant of Concern and
named it Omicron.

India's CDS Bipin Rawat died in a helicopter crash
Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others
died after the Mi-17V5 helicopter crashed in the southern state
of Tamil Nadu.
