INTRODUCTION
• Google has released an app for Android users to engage in health studies.
• An effort to make it easy for research organisations to interact with
prospective study subjects is the Google Health Studies app.

• The first study, which focuses on respiratory
disorders, including influenza and COVID-19,
is in cooperation with researchers from
Harvard Medical School and Boston
Children's Hospital. In India, the app is not
available yet.

• Adults in the US are registered for Google's first
study on the Android platform, the Respiratory
Wellbeing Study.
• It will concentrate on understanding the evolution
of respiratory diseases in populations, including
influenza and COVID-19, and how risk factors
such as age and behaviours such as travel vary.

• Participants may be asked to periodically
self-report how they feel, what symptoms
they may have, prevention precautions
they have taken, if any, and additional
details such as COVID-19 or influenza test
results using the Google Health Studies
app.

• The first study uses a privacy technology that will
help researchers to explore patterns and
understand the relation between mobility, such
as the amount of regular trips a person makes
outside the home and the spread of coronavirus.

• The tech giant believed the data of the
participants would be secured with the
advanced encryption of Google, and all the
data would be encrypted and safely stored
for analysis data.
• Google said that as they were available,
participants will also be able to access study
results.

• Google claimed that the data from the report
would only be used for uses expressly approved
