22? 
Organizers of Earth Day initially meant to promote 
it through teach-ins at college and university 
campuses, so they chose April 22 because it fell 
between spring break and final exams.

WATER-WISE 
Clean, drinkable water is a limited resource: less 
than 1% of the Earth’s water is easily accessible to 
humans. Use water sparingly when you wash your 
hands or brush your teeth by turning it off between 
scrubbing – and cut down on long showers.
