INTRODUCTION
 The United Kingdom's Medicines and 
Healthcare products Regulatory Agency 
(MHRA) gave temporary regulatory 
approval for the Pfizer–BioNTech vaccine.
 Some people may experience side effects 
after getting the coronavirus (COVID-19) 
vaccine.

MILD SYMPTOMS
 Tenderness, swelling and/or redness at the 
injection site
 Headache
 Muscle ache
 Feeling tired
 Fever/ high temperature (37.8°C or 
greater)

COMMON SIDE EFFECT 
 A less common side effect is swelling of the 
glands which could start a few days after 
the vaccine and may last for up to 2 weeks.
 This is to be expected and is a sign of the 
immune system responding to the vaccine.

TAKING PARACETAMOL
 If you feel uncomfortable, take 
paracetamol, if you can. Make sure you 
take paracetamol as directed on the label 
or leaflet.

FEVER AFTER THE VACCINE
 It’s quite common to develop a fever after 
a vaccination. This normally happens within 
48 hours of the vaccination and usually 
goes away within 48 hours.

test unless you have other coronavirus 
symptoms.

SEVERE SIDE-EFFECTS CASE IN 
INDIA
 The vaccine recipient who experienced 
severe side-effects was immediately 
admitted to the ICU ward at All India

respiratory distress, and tachycardia.
