A 2019 study published in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine monitored 1,564 persons with lower-body joint pain who were older than 49. Four years later, participants who walked for one hour every week were more likely to still be free of disabilities. Another study discovered that walking was a cost-effective, practical, and secure form of exercise for people with arthritis of all fitness levels.
