patio extrusions?
Industrial extrusions are generally mill 
finish (not painted) and will have 
screw and spline grooves. 
What is a Screw Groove?

Screw Groove: These channels are here to internally fasten Patio Extrusions 
together. Used most with SMS Patio materials.  
Spline Groove: This is the channel that holds the rubber spline 
used to install screen in a screened Porch, Lanai or Pool Cage

• Patio materials are produced via a press as described in slide # 3; the alloy is typically 6063 T5.
• The alloy in aluminum terms is mixed with silicon and magnesium to make aluminum alloy (AA) 6063.
• The T5 takes on the given properties of the alloying elements of magnesium and silicon.
• AA 6061 T5 is precipitation-hardened and is stronger than AA 6063 T5; however, AA 6063 T5 is more corrosion     
resistant and better suite for the aluminum patio industry.
• Patio materials are then Powder coated with high-end paints to achieve the resilient finish to withstand the harsh 
Florida climate; the extruded product is run through a horizontal paint line and oven.
 
• Extrusions are offered in 2 standard colors, white or bronze.
• Locally custom colors can be achieved at additional prices and subject to specific lengths. 
• SMB patio materials come in multiple lengths: 18ft., 20 ft., 24 ft., 30 ft., 36 ft., and 40 ft. 
• Materials over 30ft. are priced higher as they require the larger oven and extra handling.
