The orderliness seen throughout the universe is termed “cosmic 
order.” And the laws that make sure that orderliness in the universe 
remains undisturbed come under “cosmic law.” To fully understand 
“cosmic order” and “cosmic law”, there are several explanations 
from the perspectives of spirituality, science, and philosophy.
Philosophy and spirituality
Here, it will be appropriate to briefly examine the spiritual and 
philosophical perspectives of cosmic order and cosmic law in varied 
traditions.
 Eastern cultures: In Hinduism, there is a concept “rta” which 
signifies the natural order pervading the entire universe. It is 
from “RTA” that the principle of “dharma” has been derived. As 
per “Dharma,” cosmic law covers both orderliness in the 
universe and the moral duties of human beings. Both are 
equally important to safeguard the cosmic order.
 
 Greece: When Ancient Greece is considered, “logos” was the 
notion mostly used to denote terms like “cosmic law” and 
“cosmic order.”
 New-age concepts: There are now many new-age concepts 
that interpret cosmic order and cosmic law from the spiritual 
angle. These concepts maintain that a divine plan is 
responsible for the order in the universe, and the 
corresponding laws also belong to this “divine plan.”
 It is maintained that every occurrence is just a small element 
of a bigger plan of the divine source. The spiritual concepts 
add that by using practices like meditation and mindfulness, 
people can connect with the divine element.
 Scientific views: Science attempts to explain cosmic order 
with various laws from the realm of physics, such as 
thermodynamics and gravity. Here, the standard framework of 
particle physics which speaks about energy, matter, and forces 
is used to interpret cosmic order. Overall, the scientific view 
argues that order in the universe is based on systematic laws 
that are predictable.
 
Cosmic law – More details
At this juncture, it won’t be inappropriate to succinctly focus on 
a few more salient details regarding “cosmic law.”
 Dharma” teaches that cosmic law is of the utmost significance. 
It is the responsibility of human beings to peacefully coexist 
and live in alignment with this law.
 In Taoism, the term “tao” is used to refer to cosmic order and 
cosmic law. The orderliness of the universe, and the aspect of 
leading a life that is in accordance with “Tao” are paramount 
principles in Taoism.
 
 Many spiritual disciplines stress that ethical principles are 
integral elements of cosmic law. These principles guide human 
beings not to deviate from the standard moral precepts. It’s 
taught that every individual can comprehend the relevance of 
these principles, through introspection and reasoning.
 
 Cosmic order and cosmic law can be explained with the help of 
mathematics, too. Here, Newton’s laws of motion and the 
general relativity equation can be cited as examples. Things 
like universe expansion, planetary orbits, and the existence of 
galaxies and stars can be described mathematically.
 In some belief systems, “karma” is among the most pivotal 
facets of cosmic law. “Karma” asserts that all actions 
performed by humans lead to the corresponding consequences 
in the future. Good deeds pave the way for positive outcomes, 
while immoral actions bring about unpleasant situations.
 
 The concept of “’the law of attraction,”’ which is of relatively 
recent origin, has gained significant traction. It suggests that 
energy and frequency are the foundational principles upon 
which the entire universe operates. When people synchronize 
their thought patterns with the frequency of the universe, 
favorable circumstances can be attracted.
