How Will Teachers Be Hired To Meet NEP Targets In Vocational Education

How Will Teachers Be Hired To Meet NEP Targets In Vocational  Education? Chaitanya Kumari Writes informational articles on acraftmanship in ancient india, 64 kala or vocational education of ancient india, along with others articles on finance, health, sanathana dharma and wisdom. Teachers for training young students under NEP 2020’s vocational education goals are going to be hired and prepared using a multi-pronged and standardized process. This process is designed to enhance high-quality education that is relevant to industry needs and fosters long-term professional growth for all students. Qualification and Certification Vocational teachers need to have a relevant technical background, qualifications, and industry experience specified by the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), NCERT, or the respective Sector Skill Council (SSC). Teachers who are certified by the relevant Sector Skill Council for a specific profession or job role that they are going to teach will be given special preference. The minimum educational qualifications required for this program may include a 4-year integrated B.Ed. or something equivalent to that, with some additional educational requirements for technical and vocational subjects. Recruitment Process The states may choose to hire new vocational teachers directly as per their qualifications and experience, or via the accredited Vocational Training Providers (VTPs). These accredited Vocational Training Providers (VTPs) must comply with the National Quality Assurance Framework (NQAF) standards. The selection procedure will include the following: • A written test to assess technical and domain knowledge • An interview to assess interests, knowledge, and aptitude; a panel of field experts and state representatives will conduct the interview • Practical and mock teaching demonstration in a workshop setting or a classroom. Induction and Capacity Building • Newly enlisted educators have to undertake an induction training program. This program extends for a minimum of twenty days, which will cover the NSQF framework, scheme, and vocational pedagogy before their placement. • Continuing professional development is indispensable, including regular workshops, upskilling, and exposure to varied new industry practices. Involvement of Industry Experts • External industry experts and trainers can be hired to train the local teachers, predominantly for new and emerging job responsibilities. • Educators must know prevailing industry trends and practices. Teachers help with industry linkages for internships and placements for the apprentices. Roles and Responsibilities Vocational teachers play an integral role in providing all-around support. Apart from classroom teaching, vocational teachers need to develop the necessary curriculum. They need to manage all vital resources and organize industry visits for the students. They are responsible for guiding the students in their placements and supporting detailed career counselling. Oversight and Standards National Professional Standards for Vocational Teachers (NPSVT) have been set up to define the ethical standards, competencies, and career progression for vocational educators, and the teachers are subject to periodic reviews for quality assurance. This unique approach is going to help vocational teachers be academically and technically suited for their roles, but also allow them to develop the practical skills, industry alignment, and pedagogical expertise they need to offer high- quality vocational education as per NEP 2020.
