What are Solar Lights?
➔ These lights are powered by sunlight 
instead of electricity!
➔ Though the technology is quite 
advanced, in simple words, the solar 
panel gets to work the minute the sun is 
out and converts the sunlight into energy 
which is stored in the batteries, later this 
energy is used to power up the lights 
from dusk to dawn. A good quality solar 
light can run up to 10 hours!
Solar LED floodlights are relatively new in the market and provide a 
convenient alternative in areas without access to an electrical outlet.

Solar Led Flood Lights
Depending on the performance they can be divided into motion-based lights and 
continuous bright lights.
The motion-based lights will have a human motion detector attached, which will 
increase the light to full brightness when it detects any movement and will 
remain dim otherwise. While this may be optimal to conserve energy it may not 
be the best choice for areas that need lighting.
Continuous bright LED lights are chosen to keep in mind the area to be lit and 
the brightness required. Lumens are a way of measuring the light output from a 
lamp or a light source (while watts measure the energy output). The higher the 
lumen rating the “brighter” the lamp will appear. For e.g., 1100 lumens have the

Solar LED Street lights
They are raised lights mounted on a pole used to illuminate 
any type of pathway and the solar panel can be integrated 
into the pole or mounted on the light itself.
LEDs are used as the primary lighting source in street lights 
due to their higher luminosity and lower energy consumption. 
The lack of warm-up time in LEDs also makes them more 
efficient if a motion sensor needs to be additionally attached.
Each Solar LED Street light can have its own independent 
photovoltaic panel or a number or panels can be installed at 
a central power source which can be used to light up a 
number of street lights.
The advantages of Solar LED Street lights are:
● They reduce electrical energy consumption
● Operation costs are minimised
● They require less maintenance compared to regular lights
● The components are easy to transport
● Since they require no wiring, it is easy to install in any remote area
● As they are controlled by high-tech controllers, the intensity of light can be 
adjusted in accordance with need based on location/time of day
● They are water-resistant and weatherproof
● Nowadays with advancements in technology they have a stable output for 
around 10 years and can generate electricity for 25 years or longer.
So, to conclude as we all know solar energy 
is an inexhaustible and clean form of energy.
We should plan on switching to solar-
powered lighting.
