A Project Coordinator
Haya Akbik works with the Syrian American 
Council in Washington, D.C., as a project 
coordinator. She focuses on building a 
consistent image of Syria following the civil 
war and rebuilding process. Haya Akbik is 
extremely passionate about this work as she 
herself is of Syrian descent.
A Member of the Syrian American 
Council
Haya Akbik is a member of the Syrian American 
Council and is genuinely passionate about her 
work in this field. In the future, Haya Akbik plans 
to remain in politics and would like to find a role 
with the United States Government of with the 
UN.
Interested in Public Policy and 
Law 
Haya Akbik is massively interested in 
public policy and law and is keen to learn 
more about foreign affairs and the ways in 
which she can provide support to people 
around the world. Haya Akbik would like 
to work to help bring perpetrators of 
human rights abuses to justice.
Worked as a Political Assistant 
Haya Akbik previously worked as a 
political assistant for Peters for 
Michigan. In this role, she directed 
over 20 volunteers through field 
activities and phone-banking. Haya 
Akbik plans to work in the political 
sphere and would like to either work 
for a non-governmental organization 
or the United Nations.
