Client Profile
Partnering with his father in the early 1960s, Ron Offutt planned to grow potatoes 
under the company that was later renamed "R.D. Offutt Farms" in 2018. The family-
owned and operated farm now produces more than 50,000 acres of potatoes each 
year. Ron is now involved as the Chairman Emeritus. His daughter, Christi, is the 
company Chair and his son-in-law, Keith McGovern, is serving as President of the 
company. To maintain a consistent demand for his potatoes, Ron has also entered 
the processing business and purchased a small french fry factory.
As a family-operated business, R.D. Offutt Farms is determined to maintain 
integrity and humility throughout all of its operations. Employees at all hierarchy 
levels are encouraged to make decisions that they believe are best for the

Challenge
R.D. Offutt Farms wanted to implement 
a job transfer code feature before the 
start of the harvesting season in March 
2021. They wanted the feature so that 
they could deploy employees to 
different farm locations without 
creating a new profile for each 
location. The plan was to transfer their 
UKG profiles over into the RightPunch™ 
solution that would include the job 
transfer code feature as well.
Solution
The company had been hopeful that 
the job transfer code feature would be 
ready before the harvest season and 
they could try it before March or April 
of 2021. This was quite a short period 
to set up and implement the feature, 
and R.D. Offutt Farms were already 
engaged in harvesting. But hopefully, 
they will be able to implement the job 
transfer code feature soon.
 
Initially, R.D. Offutt Farms signed up for 
RightPunch™ with the facial 
recognition system. Since it is very 
much a family business, its employees 
mostly consist of family members, 
including 12 twins. To simplify the 
process, they moved over to the 
RightPunch™ QR barcode system.

Benefits
The farm has been happy with the 
RightPunch™ QR barcode solution. 
Their employees can now check-in to 
work from all of their farming locations 
without making an additional regional 
profile. They have been quite happy 
with it, and have not had any issue so 
far, and everything is working 
smoothly. Their only request, for now, 
is the job transfer feature to be 
implemented in the application, which 
will be done soon.
