Centrifugal fans can be considered the heart of many industrial processing
industries. Industrial centrifugal fans can be customized for excellence in the
performance of the fan.
The industrial centrifugal fans are custom built based on specific needs of the
industry and designed keeping in mind cost, reliability, efficiency, and process
parameters. The designs of custom fans emerged after intensive theoretical
calculations, simulation using various software packages, and rigorous testing for
performance.
The fast-growing power, chemical, steel, cement industries and technology that has
brought about plant sizes that are much larger than what they used to behave made
it to develop custom-built industrial fans that are powerful and can withstand high
temperatures and extreme wear. The performance tests are carried out on the
custom fans to maintain measurement errors as low as possible. Some of the
applications of custom-built industrial centrifugal fans are boilers, chemical, and
cement plants, paper manufacturing plants, iron & steel plants, ore processing
plants, incineration plants, ventilation of industries, and ventilation of commercial
complexes and tunnels.
Customizing industrial centrifugal fans will give you the benefit to enjoy the flexibility
of choosing any combination of the numerous accessories based on the required
levels of efficiency, reliability, convenience, cost, and sophistication. Some of the
various options of accessories are grid coupling, pin & bush type flexible coupling,
square dampers for flow control, circular dampers for flow control, inlet guide vanes
for flow control, silencers placed at the blower inlet, mechanical actuators for
dampers, pneumatic actuators for dampers, etc. Grid couplings are more resilient
and reliable, they are generally used for heavy-duty applications where reliability is
important although they may not be economically the best option.
Dampers can also be custom-built based on flow and pressure conditions. Inlet
guide vanes tend to offer higher efficiency compared to square and circular
dampers, they are used for applications in which clean air is circulated. Dampers can
be placed in the ducting of the fan for the control of flow. Silencers are used for
eliminating noise to ensure that the noise levels in the shop floor are well within the
accepted limits, they are generally open to the atmosphere. Actuators are used for
opening or closing of dampers, if the compressed air supply is readily available the
pneumatic actuators are more cost-effective than mechanical actuators.
Bearings are one of the most critical parts of an industrial centrifugal fan, they can
cause mechanical problems if the proper selection is not made. There are some
options in bearings to choose from for using them in custom-built fans. Self-aligning
bearings or spherical roller bearings can tolerate misalignment and are reliable and
cheap compared to other options. When thrust load, temperature, and dynamic
forces are high, a combination of deep groove ball bearings and cylindrical roller
bearings in a tabular housing can be used. Also, you can choose from different
options of instrumentation for fans.
Instead of spending time searching for industrial centrifugal fans that are a perfect
fit, you can customize the fan to suit specific needs. The custom-built fan can come
up with many benefits like budget flexibility, energy saving, a variety of options,
maximize functionality, high reliability, quality of parts, right materials and increase
in overall performance and efficiency of fans.
