Preparation (Critical in Desert Conditions)
1. Substructure check — Use pressure-treated timber or aluminum joists spaced 30–35 cm for 
residential, 25–30 cm for commercial/high-traffic areas.
2. Level & drainage — Ensure 1–2% slope away from buildings; use adjustable pedestals on 
concrete roofs.
3. Acclimatization — Store planks in shaded area 48 hours before install (Dubai heat causes 
expansion).
4. Expansion allowance — Plan 4–6 mm end-to-end gaps and 6–10 mm perimeter gaps.
