Weebly is a web-hosting service featuring a drag-and-drop website builder. It is 
very easy to understand and user-friendly to build a website using its drag and 
drop feature. It provides many themes and tools to build a website.
Most of the startups choose weebly for their work because it is extremely simple 
and easy to use. Also, it does not demand more technical knowledge and provides 
reliable drag and drop options which easy to understand and use.
Weebly vs WordPress
WordPress is an open source and free content management system based on PHP and 
MySQL. Before considering to migrate your site from weebly to WordPress you must 
know the pros and cons of both of them. Here is the brief comparison between Weebly 
and WordPress :
● Hosting: Weebly is a completely self hosted service, i.e you do not need 
to buy any separate server hosting whereas WordPress is a free software 
for which you require a server to host and your own domain as well. 
Therefore, In case of weebly you will have to abide by the rules and 
settings set on the weebly server, whereas in case of WordPress you will be 
free to setup the server as per your requirments
● Drag & Drop: Weebly comes with beautiful themes and with default drag 
and drop feature whereas for WordPress, though there are many free 
themes present in WordPress Theme Directory, but the drag and drop 
option is not available by default. You can however use many of the 
available drag and drop plugins which can provide similar functionality as 
the drag and drop feature available in weebly. Also this feature will be 
made default in the new Gutenberg editor in the future WordPress updates.
● While Weebly does allow you to setup an online store, but it gives very 
basic features and there are a lot of limitations to the customization of the 
store. Also there is a transaction fee for every sale. You can add coupons, 
customize receipts,etc using these plugins. Also, there is no transaction cost 
associated with them.
● No Plugins: Though there are built in features to create Online stores, 
contact forms, etc by default in Weebly, but if you require a custom 
functionality in weebly, then you might be in trouble. On the other hand 
WordPress, has many features (almost everything one can think of) in the 
form of plugins available in the WordPress plugin directory. You can also 
create your own custom plugin easily for WordPress
Things You Need to Consider Before Moving From Weebly
Drag-and-drop Interface : Weebly is favored for its affective drag-and-
drop interface. While moving from weebly to WordPress you will loose 
that weebly feature. But still, you may use page builder plugins 
available for the WordPress as an alternative. WordPress provides drag-
and-drop page builder themes and plugins which you can use as an 
alternative to weebly’s interface. For Example Divi Theme, which 
provides powerful and flexible page-builder. There are various plugins 
available like wpbakery’s visual composer. As mentioned earlier as well, 
with WordPress 5.0 there will be a drag and drop editor included by 
default called Gueternberg
Themes : Although, WordPress is loaded with number of themes and 
themes are available for all purposes but weebly provides small 
businesses a good looking themes. Weebly’s themes are much more 
limited than WordPress but it provides a good-looking site right out of 
the box. Also there is no way to migrate theme, so, to get the same look 
and feel you need to have a look at available themes for WordPress. You 
can also recreate the theme using a flexible theme like Divi.
