There is a specific kind of panic that every brass player knows well. It usually happens about 48 hours before a big concert or a marching band competition. You pick up your trumpet or trombone, blow a warm-up scale, and realize something is wrong. Maybe it’s a gurgling sound that won’t clear, a valve that refuses to pop back up, or a clicking noise that ruins a quiet passage.
