The fish industry of Kamchatka is one of the guarantors of food security in Russia. The main and basic duty of the enterprises engaged in fishing and further processing is to provide people with high-quality products. On the territory of the Russian Federation, there are about 20% of the world's reserves of fresh water, and the area of the seas is almost 7 million square kilometers. The Federal Agency for Fisheries reports a total volume of harvested aquatic biological resources of almost 5 million tons per year.
