Minerals are naturally formed materials that have a chemical composition and a crystalline structure. They also have an ordered atomic arrangement with a definite chemical formula. There are three different types of minerals which are: metallic, crystal, and organic. Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals on earth and is in fact the second most abundant mineral, after feldspar. Quartz can be classified based on its origin but there will always be some impurities within the atomic lattice which gives rise to a particular color displayed.
