Spanish is the second-most spoken language in the world, spoken by approximately 500 million people. It is the official language of 20 countries spanning a vast geographic region across the Americas in addition to Spain in Europe. In the United States alone there is a large Spanish-speaking market, with about 41 million people speaking Spanish at home. That makes the U.S. the fourth largest Spanish speaking country in the world, with particular concentrations of Spanish speakers in Texas, the Southwest, California, Florida and New York.
