W atch What You Eat!
It is rightly said, that one needs to watch out what they feed themselves.
It is a rightly known fact that what you feed your body is reflected on the
outside and effects both the exterior and the interiors equally. The FSSAI
understands the importance of this issue and has hence made it a
mandate, that any food or beverage manufacturer who wishes to sell
their products in public, needs to get food and beverage testing done for
the product. It is only after their get permission from the testing lab that
the product can actually be sent on market shelves to sell.

T he Mark Of Assurance
As a customer, all you need to do is to check for the mark of FSSAI on
the packaged product, when you pick it from a store. This mark acts as
an assurance that the product you chose from the shelf is reliable and is
guaranteed by the FSSAI. Just like the testing, it is compulsory that the
company that is making the packaging of the food product, should print
the mark of FSSSAI, so that the customers are assured of the quality and
safety of the product,

Testing The Preservatives
The testing of food product involves testing how long the product would
sustain the pressure and temperature fluctuations outside, which is
known as the shelf life study, then they also test the credibility of the
preservatives to know that it does its job well of guarding the food, and
then of course, there is testing for contaminants in food product testing,
which is the primary goal of the tester. These contaminants could either
be a manmade mistake or it could seep in through the raw material in
use.

Testing For Heavy Metals
Another test that is carried out in the food and beverage testing series is
testing for the presence of any heavy metals. Heavy metals in food are
said to be a good thing if present in just little quantity. More than that
could be risky for any human’s health and could also be fatal. We all
remember the time when Maggie noodles got banned in India due to the
presence of magnesium in the noodles’ masala in more than permissible
quantity. To avoid such fiascos, it is important that this test be done.

Testing Of Milk
When it comes to beverages, the most perishable product of all is milk.
While milk is usually safer when properly pasteurized, it needs to be
tested for the presence of any kind of antibiotics in the milk. While these
antibiotics are not put in the milk directly, they seep in through the
cow’s milking process. Usually, if a cow suffers from mastitis, she is
given heavy doses of antibiotics. If a cow who has not fully recovered or
has traces of antibiotics left, then it can easily go into the milk. Hence,
packaged milk needs to be tested too.
