QuickBooks Error 15101 is a security error that can block 
your ability to access the program. Users may encounter 
this error during or after the payroll, or in conjunction with 
a software update. QuickBooks will not function well and 
prevent you from performing other tasks when this error 
pops up. Causes for this error can range from improper 
internet settings to not running your software correctly, 
and even problems if any digital certificates are missing on 
the computer.

servers.

Method 1: Run reboot.bat files
• If you are getting a QuickBooks error 15101, complete these steps to 
resolve the error.
• Close QuickBooks application.
• Then on the Shortcut tab of the Properties screen, click the Open File 
Location button.
• Locate a file called Reboot.bat or reboot script from the list and right-click 
to select Run as administrator.
• The black CMD window will reveal another scrolling file and ask permission 
to start rebooting your computer, accept the permission and restart your 
computer. If a new update is available.
Method 2: Set Internet Explorer as your Default Internet 
Browser
• There may be one of a number of factors causing QuickBooks to error out.
• Two of these are old updates or outdated software.
• In order to solve this problem, first, make sure that you have the most current version 
of Internet Explorer.
