• Before proceeding any further make sure you 
have a backup of the company file.
• Open your company file in QuickBooks Software.
• Open the product information window by 
pressing F2.
• Copy the location of your file.
• Open file explorer and browse to the file location.
• Once you find the file right-click on it and select 
rename.
• Change the name of your company file and hit 
enter.
• Click "Yes" if promoted.

• Open QuickBooks Desktop.
• Head toward Menu > File > Open or restore an existing 
company.
• Click on the open company file. Click Next.
