WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CORING?
• Coring is the process of drilling into the core of the object in the 
center with the purpose of collecting samples, and to obtain 
information on the object. Coring by definition is the act of 
removing a core or of cutting from a central part.
• You don’t know what kinds of hidden rebar—might stand in your 
way. The goal is to get the core of the object, concrete wall, floor, 
or barrier as quickly as you can. Of course, you also know how 
costly and time-consuming unexpected jamming of core drills 
can be.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CORING?
• Core drills are used for many applications, either where the core 
needs to be preserved or where drilling can be done more 
quickly since much less material needs to be removed.
The coring operations fall into three phases:-
• Cutting the annulus
• Getting the core into the core barrel
• Holding the core in the core barrel for as long as required
