Baby hedgehogs, also know as hoglets, 
are  some of the most fascinating looking 
 creatures. This post preps you for the  
birthing of your hoglets, as well as how 
to  raise these baby hedgehogs! Before 
we can  dive right in though, Id like to 
recap on the  important steps right 
before breeding your  hedgehogs.

You want to of course start with a pair 
 of healthy hedgehogs to pass on 
good  genes. Next, clean the males 
cage, and  remove all toys, obstacles, 
or anything  the female can escape to. 
Then, monitor  them over the next 6-9 
days. After this  period you want to 
separate the two  Hedgy’s. Never have 
the male around in  the cage when 
the female is in pre/post  birth stages. 
This can add stress to the  female 
causing her to kill and eat her  young!

Countdown:  I strongly recommend 
you keep track of  the dates that you 
ktoegeept htheer  fHoer dbgrye’esding. My first time 
around  I never did, but about a month 
later I was  definitely taken by surprise 
when  Toothpick had her babies. I was in 
total  shock, and completely unprepared. 
Don’t  be like I was, keep track of the 
dates so you  can be ready for this!
