Surprisingly, the standard horizontal size of a fire pump consumes around 40% more of the room’s footprint than a vertical one. Therefore, Pennsylvania fire pumps are high in demand due to the difference they make and the space they save. For example, if we assume that a 1000 GPM horizontal fire pump consumes around 200-250 square feet of space, then a vertical system of the same power will require only 80-120 square feet. This illustrates the significant difference in size and shape that can be achieved.
