What is Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT)?
Polybutylene Terephthalate is a semi-crystalline engineering
thermoplastic. It shares similar properties and composition with
polybutylene terephthalate granules. It belongs to the polyester
family of PBT granules(VALOX 420SEO, VALOX DR51, VALOX 357X,
etc).
The polycondensation or polymethyl terephthalate of terephthalic
acid with 1,4-butanediol is the process that produces PBT. Special
catalysts are used. Due to its broad range of uses, PBT natural has
attracted commercial attention.
What is Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT)?
There are many grades of PBT that are ideal for injection molding. These
are:
• Reinforced
• Filled
• Impact-modified and
• Flame-retardant
Both unreinforced PBT and reinforced versions of flame-retardant
Polybutylene Terephthalate are available. Glass-reinforced VALOX PBT
resin has a two to threefold increase in its tensile and flexural
strengths, as well as its moduli when compared to non-reinforced
ones.
Properties of PBT
SABIC PBT resins have excellent electrical and mechanical
properties. Below are the main properties of the polyester
material.
• It is extremely stain resistant and has great machining
properties.
• It allows for efficient material use to reduce weight and costs.
• It has excellent short-term mechanical properties such as high
strength and toughness.
• It has good creep resistance, dimension stability, and low
moisture absorption.
• It is resistant to thermal stress and chemical environments,
especially in automotive underhood applications.
Properties of PBT
VALOX PBT dana has high heat deflection temperatures, high-
temperature index ratings, and high heat resistance help
components withstand both short-term thermal excursions as well
as long-term heat exposure.
Protective coating for electronic and electrical components is
Polybutylene Terephthalate. It has a high level of electrical
resistance and high dielectric force that protects against power
circuitry leakage. Low dielectric losses reduce energy absorption for
high-frequency electronic applications.
