Five Creative Ways to Use a Food Processor
5 Ingenious Ways of Using
a Food Processor
From chopping to slicing and
shredding; we find that a good food
processor is an essential tool for any
kitchen. But do you know that food
processors are also capable of so
much more than just whipping up a
quick tomato sauce? Read on to
learn about five lesser-known uses of
the food processor.
1-Knead Pizza Dough
You can knead pizza dough with hands in 8 minutes
or in a stand mixer in 5 minutes, but kneading it in
the food processor will save some more time. Just
add flour, sugar, and yeast together in your food
processor, iced water and pulse it for
approximately10 seconds, or until no dry flour
remains. Then let the dough rest for 10 minutes, and
refrigerate for at least 24 hours. Properly kneaded
dough should have a smooth and almost glossy
appearance.
2-Crush Ice
You might have never thought of
your food processor as a tool which
helps you make smoothies but it is
perfect for crushing ice: simply pulse
up to 2 cups of ice cubes until it is
finely ground. Put the crushed ice in
a cup, and add strawberries, milk,
vanilla ice-cream, and enjoy your
strawberry smoothie.
4-Grind Nut Flours
The difference between the
consistencies from nut butter to nut
flour depends largely on how long
you have processed the nuts. The
longer your process them, they
release more oil, taking them closer
and closer to nut butter.
Pulse 2 cups of whole almonds,
hazelnuts, peanuts, cashews, or
pistachios until they are finely
ground, 16 to 20 pulses. You will end
up with about 2½ cups of nut flour
that is perfect for gluten-free and
paleo baking.
5-Make Bread
Crumbs
Making bread crumbs on your own
allows you to control the size of
those crumbs, and also you can use
any type of bread simply tear the
bread into pieces, and pulse it in
your food processor until it is ground
to the desired texture.
