Have you ever thought about what happened to your scrap metal
after you turned them into a scrap metal dealer? Are you interested
to know the amazing process of scrap metal recycling in Singapore?
Well, we are here to tell you about the process of recycling scrap
metal.
The Process Of Scrap Recycling
Below we’ve outlined the process of metal recycling so that you
can get a better understanding of how metal recycling can
actually work.
Collection
The first step in the metal recycling process is a
collection.
In this process, you need to collect the
unwanted scrap items and materials offered up
by you.
It also includes items like white goods, leftover
construction materials, batteries, car parts, etc.
Shredding and Sorting
After collecting scrap materials, the metal is shredded so that it can get melted easily.
The smaller the metal gets shredded the easier it gets to melt it down. It is done so that
less energy is used for the melting of these materials.
After the shredding process, it gets placed into magnetic drums to sort the non-ferrous
metals out from the ferrous metals.
Melting
The scrap metal is blasted with hot air that removes any paint or other
impurities on the surface of the material. After this process, the scrap metals
are metaled in a large furnace. However, there are specific furnaces that are
designed especially for melting different types of scrap metal materials.
There are a number of factors considered while melting scrap metals like the
size of the furnace, the number of metals, and the temperature inside the
furnace. The metal process takes a few minutes or a couple of hours,
depending on the type of metal.
Purification
After melting, the scrap metal gets purified. This step ensures that the final
product is free from impurities and high in quality. You need to keep in mind
that the presence of impurities can alter the metal’s properties.
Electrolysis is the main step of the purification method. It is also done to ensure
that the scrap metal is complete and ready to go.
Solidifying
After the purification process, the metal are carried by the conveyor belt to cool and
solidify.
Following the purification process, the molten metals are then carried by a conveyor
belt to cool and solidify. The melted scrap metals are then formed into specific shapes
such as blocks called ingots, which are then sent to rolling mills where they can be rolled
into sheets.
