It can be beneficial for someone to talk to someone outside of themselves if they have experienced losing hope or feeling hopeless in their own lives. This doesn't mean that they need advice on how to handle these situations; rather, it demonstrates interest in their emotional health by listening closely enough to understand what happened and recognize any emotional triggers connected to it (e.g., fear). Take time to reflect on your sessions As a general rule, ask an open-ended question first, and then more specific ones later. Ask someone how they feel rather than what happened or why it happened, for instance, if they just lost their job and are depressed about it. Ask them how they believe this will impact their lives in the future if nothing changes after they have responded to that question (i.e., if no new job is found). Have a consistent approach: A consistent strategy will make your clients feel more at ease. Here are some instances of consistency in that your customers are aware of what to expect from you. Tell them, for instance, that each session will include time for questions and feedback on the session as well as work on their current goals or difficulties. If necessary, adapt your delivery style (e.g., change it up if someone has trouble focusing). Be prepared with various methods for dealing with issues like maintaining motivation or managing stress outside of therapy sessions. For instance, you might suggest an exercise or activity that takes place somewhere other than the office where we meet so the person can still get things done during this time but also unwind later on in the day! With your clients, establish clear expectations and goals. As a life skills coach, you must set up clear goals and expectations with your clients. You'll be able to focus on what matters as a result of this. Also, it will improve your effectiveness and efficiency, allowing you to complete more tasks in less time.
