An Energy Management System (EMS) is a holistic system that leverages technology, processes, and data analysis to improve energy use, in contrast with traditional systems that only measure energy consumption. Unlike traditional approaches that solely record energy consumption, an EMS acquires real-time data from meters, sensors, and devices to deeply understand how exactly energy is being used across a facility. The analytics in the EMS leverages this data to identify, monitor and analyse inefficiencies and spot areas for improvement and actions that can be taken to take advantage of better energy use.
