In India, agriculture provides a significant source of income for 
around 58% of the people. According to estimates, agriculture, 
forestry, and fishery contributed $276.37 billion in GVA in FY20. 
National Income projections for FY22 show that Agriculture and 
Allied Sectors (at current prices) make up 18.8% of total GVA. 
After the pandemic-driven recession, consumer spending in India 
is expected to increase in 2021, growing by as much as 6.6%. In 
FY21, the growth rate in agriculture and related sectors was 
3.6% at constant pricing levels. Pest controllers and

processing sector, India’s food industry is expected to develop at an

MARKET SIZE
In FY20, India produced 296.65 million tonnes of food grains, 
up 11.44 million tonnes from FY19. The government plans to 
acquire 10% more from the central pool in FY21, or 42.74 
million tonnes. The government wants farmers to increase food 
grain production by 2% to 307.31 million tonnes in FY22. FY21 
output was 303.34 million tonnes vs 301 million tonnes
