HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED
TO SERVICE ROLEX?
It is recommended that your Rolex be serviced every 10 years for continued
accuracy and waterproofness. Your Rolex watch should be serviced at an Official
Rolex Retailer or a Rolex Service Center on a regular basis.
To preserve sustained accuracy and waterproofness, Rolex watches should be
repaired every ten years, depending on the model and real-world usage. Your Rolex
watch should be professionally serviced at an Official Rolex Retailer or Service
Centre on a periodic basis.
It is important to refill the lubricants in a Rolex watch. The synthetic lubricants
used by watchmakers will evaporate and dry up over time. Due to the mechanical
sheering from the pivots running dry, debris and dirt will build up. The pivots may
eventually fail. It is advisable therefore to have the wristwatch serviced before it
reaches that point. Internal wear can be prevented by cleaning the watch caliber
and maintaining it at set intervals.

Watches made by Rolex are water-resistant. Models like the Sea-Dweller and
Submariner Deep Sea are nearly watertight. Your watch's water resistance could
be the lone reason to service it regularly if it is important to you. Rolex watches are
no different than any other watch that is regularly exposed to water in this regard.
If you often submerge your watch underwater, you should have it examined on a
regular basis. At your local Rolex Service Center RSC, pressure testing is available.
It is probably time to have a 100m water-resistant watch serviced if you find out
that it can only endure 30m or 3ATM of pressure. Water resistance on Rolex
watches is not permanent and requires periodic service.
How Much Does Rolex Watch Service Cost?
A Rolex watch service costs around $800. An overhaul of a Rolex usually costs
between $800 and $1500, depending on its condition and the work required. A
qualified watchmaker carefully examines your timepiece and calculates the
amount of repair that will be required. All work on your watch must be accepted by
you prior to undergoing any repairs.
independent watch services are typically less expensive than approved Rolex
service centres, but they do not have Rolex's approval for the work. independent
watch services will cost between $350 and $950. If you have your Rolex serviced
by an independent non authorized third party, your warranty will be voided.
You must maintain your Rolex watch's flawless, original state, even though
servicing it may appear complicated due to its worth and collectability. Your Rolex
watch should be serviced every ten years, according to Rolex. Servicing is an
important aspect of owning a watch, so do it while it's still in good shape.
What Happens In A Rolex Service?
All required operations to restore accuracy, functionality and aesthetics are
included in Rolex service. It includes the internal and external cleaning of the
watch, including the scratch-resistant cerachrom, chromalight, magnetic shield,
Oyster case and the perpetual movement. The Rolex calibre will be take aparted
and each component will be cleaned individually. Each watch parts is
ultrasonically cleansed to ensure that all dirt and impurities are removed. A Rolex
horologer certified by the company has the skills and knowledge to carefully
disassemble a band like a two-colour 904l stainless steel Oyster or President
bracelet. Essentially, all Rolex Glidelock, links and parts will be dismantled and
cleaned one by one separately.
Every portion of the movement (mainspring, wheel train, pivots, escapement
mechanism, pallet fork, oscillating weight and hairspring) will be inspected by the
Rolex Service Center, with worn-out parts being replaced with new ones. The
movement will also be oiled before the watch is put back together. It is necessary
to lubricate the top and bottom jewels of the Balance Staff with a light oil.
lubrication is needed for the escape wheel and pallet fork's bottom and top jewels.

lubrication is needed for gears in gear trains. A qualified watchmaker cleanses and
re-lubricates the Mainspring using a one-dip technique if it needs to be re-
lubricated.
To ensure COSC (contrôle officiel suisse des chronomètres) accuracy -2/+2 sec/
day, the Rolex superlative movement will be inspected and adjusted.
The Rolex will be polished to restore the original brilliance of the bracelet, case,
bidirectional or unidirectional bezel (fluted, domed, tachymeter or cerachrom) and
screw-down crown (twinlock or triplock). Superalloys from Rolex, such as Everose,
Rolesor, and Oystersteel, can be polished to remove light scuffs. In addition to
stainless steel 904L, 18ct white gold, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct rose gold, and 950
platinum, other metals can also be refinished during the Rolex service.
Multiple gaskets in water-resistant Oyster casings are replaced automatically
during the watch service. Replacement of the Triplock crown triple waterproofness
gaskets (Submariner, Daytona, Sea Dweller) or Twinlock double waterproofness
gaskets (DayDate, Datejust, Oyster, GMT MASTER) gaskets is included in standard
Rolex service prices. The watch will be put through a waterproof test to see if it fits
the model's requirements: waterproof to 100 metres / 330 feet (most Rolexes),
waterproof to 300 metres / 1000 feet (Submariner), waterproof to 1220 metres /
4000 feet (Sea Dweller) and waterproof to 3900 metres / 12800 feet (Deep Sea).
water pressure testing is comparable to that carried out in Rolex's Swiss plant.
Will Rolex Service A Second Hand Watch?
No paperwork is required to service genuine Rolex timepieces. The paperwork is
missing from some Rolex owners. The watch may easily be maintained at a
certified service center.
A green plastic card called Rolex paper is included in the box of every new Rolex
timepiece. It is shaped like a banking card. This was previously a paper document,
therefore the terms Rolex document and Rolex documentation. Rolex cards
function similarly to ID cards for timepieces. This includes the wristwatch's
reference number and unique serial number. On the back of the card is a stamp
with information about the Rolex store and the date the timepiece was acquired.
This card also acts as the Rolex warranty. For every Rolex watch, only an unique
green plasticcard was ever made. If the card is lost or even stolen, Rolex will not
replace it.
A Rolex owner may not have the original documents for a variety of reasons.
Without a document, a Rolex can be serviced. You must know if your Rolex has
been modified or serviced by an independent watchmaker if you do not have the
original green card for the wristwatch. Another useful piece of information is
where it was purchased or who owned it previously. Any document relating to its
purchase could be helpful. If the watch is authentic Rolex watch, has not been
modified, and is not stolen, then Rolex will service it.

Even if you don't have the original certification papers, Rolex will service your
watch if you ship it to them in the mail or bring it in to one of their Official Rolex
Retailers and Service Centers.
