INTRODUCTION
In September 2015, the Government of India 
introduced the Udyog Aadhaar registration online to 
simplify the registration process for MSMEs and 
replace the earlier SSI registration.
Udyog Aadhaar aimed to provide a single-page 
registration form that MSMEs could fill online with 
basic details such as Aadhaar number, name of the 
enterprise, type of organization, location, and major 
activity (manufacturing or service).
The registration process was designed to be hassle-
free, paperless, and aimed at promoting ease of doing 
business for MSMEs.

Udyog Aadhaar was the earlier 
registration process for MSMEs in India, 
focusing on simplifying registration with 
basic details. Udyam registration, 
introduced in 2020, includes additional 
requirements like investment details and 
employee count. It aims to enhance 
transparency and classification accuracy 
while providing similar benefits and 
support to MSMEs under updated 
guidelines.
CONCLUSION
MSMEs in India found it easier to register for 
Udyog Aadhaar registration online , which gave them 
formal recognition and allowed them to obtain 
government incentives. Simplifying bureaucratic
