Phuket is one of the most popular
destinations for divers in Thailand. This
beautiful island is so enticing for those
wanting to explore below the waves. It is
home to PADI dive centres that offer
PADI Certificates for open water diving
in Phuket. If you're new to diving, or
want to know more about getting a
PADI certificate in Phuket, read on!
WHAT IS PADI?
PADI (the Professional Association of
Diving Instructors) is a scuba diving
certification agency. The acronym
stands for Professional Associations of
Diving Instructors, and was founded in
1966 as a non-profit organization based
in California. PADI is the world's largest
scuba diving training agency, with more
than 500 offices worldwide, including
several locations in Phuket and
throughout Thailand.
You'll need to learn how to dive, and
then do a bunch of dives. The time it

greater
●The child must be accompanied by
an adult who is at least 18 years old or
older, certified to dive and in possession
of a valid PADI certification in Phuket.
H O W M A N Y D IVES DO YOU
N E E D TO GET CERTIF IED?
You must complete at least 5 dives to
get PADI Open Water certification.
These dives should be done at least 30
minutes apart and should be at a depth
of 12 meters or more and 50 meters
away from the shore.

W ITHOUT GOING INTO THE
S E A ?
No. You must be able to swim and complete
underwater training in order to get your PADI
Open Water Diver certification.
If you're not a strong swimmer, don't worry!
You can still take your PADI Open Water Diver
course. There are centers that offer dry land
training as well as open water diving in
Phuket.In order to be able to do dry land
training, you will need to have basic
swimming skills and know how to use an air
regulator.
