                     What is freelancing? 
Freelancing occurs when a person offers their services for an agreed period of 
time in exchange for remuneration. Freelancers (also known as contractors or 
service providers) are independent of the businesses or individuals that engage in 
their services. Generally, freelancers work on short-term jobs, although contract 
terms vary in length and can and often are extended.

independent. As long as you have the skills or services a business or individual 
needs, you can provide your services and be independent.

insights into demand for freelance services. But don't be discouraged if your

 The advantages of being independent 
 There are many advantages to freelance work. Some of my favorites include: Be 
your own boss. Freelancing is one of the best ways to start your own business. 
Being your own boss also allows you to decide how many hours you work, what 
time of year, and where. Get paid to travel. If you love to travel, freelance work 
can take you across the country or beyond. Alternatively, you can travel at 
someone else's expense! Work from home or remotely. If you enjoy working from 
home, freelance work offers that flexibility, and freelancers can enjoy a successful 
business doing it. The Internet has created remote working opportunities that 
companies around the world want to use. Make money fast. Not only do 
freelancers get paid faster and more often than permanent employees, but they 
can also earn significantly more over a period of time than a permanent employee 
doing similar work. 
 Disadvantages of Freelancing 
 But independence also has its downside. Some of them include: Annual tax 
return. If you are self-employed or self-employed through your business or have a 
certain amount of income, you will need to complete an HM Revenue and 
Customs tax return. Luckily, you can now do this on their website and 
automatically calculate your taxes. Have to find a job. If you're a freelancer, no 
boss will give you your first (or next) job. So it's up to you to find work. 
Fortunately, there are specialized freelance websites that can make this process 
easier. Must maintain your CV. Your resume is what will land you your next, if not 
your first, job, so you'll need to update it as jobs are completed and new skills are 
learned. It can become a chore but it is necessary if you want to pass on your 
current experience and knowledge.  
Where to do freelance work? 
 As mentioned, one advantage of freelance work is that it allows you to travel. 
Depending on your skills and the service you provide, you can do freelance work 
locally, nationally or internationally. For example, you could offer gardening 
services, which are more likely to be offered to local individuals and businesses. 
Or you could freelance as a personal trainer and provide services locally and 
regionally. You can also work from the comfort of your home as a data entry 
moderator, article writer, CCTV operator, proofreader, and more. As noted, the 
Internet has opened up many possibilities for people to work remotely without 
having to be physically present at the customer's location. 
 Start freelancing 
 Place your resume on a niche website. Some of the most popular resume 
aggregators and job sites include tiptopjob, jobserve, friendsreunitedjobs, 
totaljobs, CV-Library, and job sites. However, these sites do not specialize in 
outsourced micro jobs and are more focused on capturing your resume than on 
the services you provide. Fortunately, there are specialized websites that can help 
you with your freelance services. On these sites you will find jobs with different 
requirements and budgets. You can also advertise 1 or more services, indicating 
your skills, daily or hourly salary and your location, if you also want to work for 
clients. And unlike job boards or resume aggregators, you'll also be able to use 
this site to interact with job providers, such as clarifying requirements or working 
with them once you've landed the job!
