Bismuthinite, the primary ore of bismuth, is a sulfide mineral with significant industrial importance in metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. Global Bismuthinite production has experienced steady growth over the last decade, largely driven by rising bismuth demand as a replacement for lead in non-toxic applications such as solders, alloys, and cosmetics. In 2024, the estimated global production of Bismuthinite was around 15,500 metric tons, reflecting a CAGR of 3.2% since 2019. Leading producers include China, Mexico, Peru, and Bolivia, with China dominating over 70% of global output. Production trends are influenced by both the expansion of bismuth mining projects and the recovery of bismuth as a by-product from lead, copper, and tin processing.
