Cerium (III) acetate production is closely tied to the upstream rare-earths value chain that begins with bastnäsite and monazite concentrates, progresses through acid/alkali cracking, and yields a mixed rare-earth chloride/oxide stream for solvent extraction. Producers isolate cerium as Ce(III/IV) salts, then reduce and convert to acetate via neutralization with glacial acetic acid or sodium acetate under controlled pH to secure high purity and low carbonate contamination.
