HFO-1233zd, a next-generation blowing agent and refrigerant, has gained traction due to its ultra-low GWP and excellent insulation properties. As part of the HFO family, it is increasingly replacing traditional HFCs in polyurethane foams, chillers, and high-performance refrigeration systems. Production of HFO-1233zd has ramped up over the past five years, with major chemical producers expanding capacity in the US, China, and Western Europe. Several new plants are either under construction or in the planning stage to meet anticipated demand from global sustainability initiatives.
