Underground utility trucks – including personnel carriers, service vehicles, scissor lifts, explosives delivery units, and maintenance trucks – form the backbone of mine support logistics. Production trends show a broad shift from modified on-road vehicles to purpose-built underground platforms with low profiles, improved safety features, and higher durability. Many suppliers are niche manufacturers or regional integrators who upfit base chassis from larger OEMs. In terms of price trends, underground utility trucks occupy a mid-range price band: more expensive than basic support equipment but cheaper than production machines like LHDs. Prices have edged up due to rising costs of base chassis, steel, hydraulics, and electronics, as well as the growing inclusion of ROPS/FOPS cabins, proximity detection, telematics, and fire suppression as standard.
