When I was 17, I lost my strong and beautiful mother to ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, even 
today, ovarian cancer remains a deadly disease for many women in Canada. Thousands of 
Canadian women are currently living with ovarian cancer, and five women lose their lives to 
this disease every day. These women are not just statistics but integral parts of their families 
and our society.
Despite the prevalence of ovarian cancer, there is still no reliable screening for it, and the 
survival rates remain very low, with no improvement in the last 50 years. It’s time to raise 
awareness and funds to fight this disease.
