Guidelines for toys manufacturer’s for bis license - Toys for creative activities
GUIDELINES FORWTWOYWS.SMIGANMUAFTAECSTTU.ORERR’S FORBIS
LICENSE G
CATEGORY F — TOYS FOR CREATIVE
ACTIVITIES
As per new guidelines, all the toy manufacturers are required to obtain license from BIS
in order to sell their products in market. Since more than 1 Indian Standard may be
applicable on each toy, it has been decided to make the application process simpler.
Toys have been classified into following 2 types for the purpose of BIS certification:
Electrical (IS 15644:2006) and Non-electrical (IS 9873 (Part 1):2019). Manufacturers while
applying for a license, may choose one of the applicable primary standards based on the
type of toy for which license is required. If license is required for more than one type of
toy (i.e. non-electric and electric), separate applications shall be made for each type.
Further, based on their specific purpose and function, toys have also been classified into
7 Categories and 146 sub-categories. For the purpose of certification, all the models of
toys of similar designs, made from the same materials and covered under a single sub-
category, shall be considered as a series.
In this presentation, we are explaining the sixth category i.e., Toys for creative activities .
It categorizes the toys as per the age criteria.
